The Longest Yard

"management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things"

The other day when we were made to see a movie "The Longest Yard" the process  I’ve ever gone through seemed so realistic to me. No matter where you or are how you are, everyone each and all of us can rise above our circumstances and achieve success if we are dedicated to and passionate about what we do.

The Longest Yard is about former popular professional quarterback Paul Crewe who is sent to prison.  He decides to create a makeshift team of inmates to face off against a team of prison guards in a game of football.
Paul crewe was the team leader, his leadership style was democratic because he led them do whatever they want, but they have to do it his way. Crewe led the team to victory, which proved that the democratic style was good style to use. Even though he was bribed to lose, his integrity made him to win.
The theme of the movie says that “constant team work can conquer many obstacles”. Secondary “to win sometimes you must make some sacrifices”. The main conflict of the movie is a character vs character type.

We all have one or the other abilities which if recognized will give an opportunity to taste success.  All one needs in life is to be determined towards the very goal. And then there exists no power even in the universe to keep us from our Goal. A true leader is he who moves not alone but makes a move with the team and takes credits for not himself but everyone. Someone who does not make an order and orders mates to GO! But one who says Lets Go! Leadership is not a title or a position, it is certainly a behaviour so why not just Live it?
