APOLLO 13

APOLLO 13 the greatest leadership movie among others, the story  tells about the a leader who won’t submit to defeat even when it’s staring him in the face and who won’t also let his team accept defeat . That determine attitude impart belief in everyone around him. Kranz expertly orders his resources with his instruction to ‘work the problem’, facilitating everyone to play their role in resolving the crisis. For every apparently impossible situation, his response was simple i.e "we need to find a way to make it work". 

"We’ve never lost an American in space and we sure as hell ain’t gonna lose one on my watch", he tells his gathered flight team, ‘Failure is not an option!’

The Apollo 13 mission has long been a success of NASA, not just because of its successes in returning a spaceship to Earth, but because it represents one of the best examples of leadership and skill on the part of a huge organization in order to accomplish an almost impossible task.

How this story can actually can make an impact on the overall leadership development in one person i.e. through wildland fire leadership toolbox items which contain (Duty, Respect, Integrity). It's really important for the leader to consider individual skill levels and development needs when assigning tasks, just like kranz did while holding meeting with engineers. It matters that the efficient leader take care for the subordinate needs just like in Apollo 13 engineers develop the CO2 filter. The application of situational theory is evident throughout the movie. the willingness of men and leaders to adapt to a variety of ongoing challenges with a sense of urgency both in the shuttle and ground clearly demonstrate leadership goals and abilities.
